COGNAC

Producer: GODET FRERES - La Rochelle    producer link

Godet are one of the oldest Cognac Houses still in production, having been blending quality spirits from 1792 and selling under their own name since 1838. Godet pride themselves in maintaining the traditions of craft production and develpoing original styles based on old recipies.

As one of the few remaining independent family concerns in Cognac they prefer to work in niche markets and are credited with numerous awards. As their company motto says: "Make way for excellence."

CUVEE JEAN GODET
  • Superior VS, having a minimum 4 years of ageing in oak casks
  • Blended from stocks sourced and selected from small distillers in the Fins Bois, Borderies and Bon Bois regions of Cognac.
  • Well developed nose of vanilla and hints of leather and spice; smooth and warming on the palate.
SELECTION SPECIALE
  • VSOP Superieur - 10 year old
  • Blend from Fins Bois, Borderies and Petit Champagne.
  • Mellow woody aromas with a nutty palate and a touch of caramel.
GASTRONOME FINE CHAMPAGNE
  • VSOP - minimum age 14 years.
  • Blend of 8 different distillations - 50% Grande Champagne, 50% Petite Champagne
  • Based on a 1920 recipe, which in turn originates from one dated 1838 whose concept was to create a Cognac to aid digestion.
  • Pale yellow colour with discernable aromas of violet and iris; it has a complex light, dry character.
  • As its name and ancestory implies it is a excellent digestif. Presented in a classy stenciled bottle.
  • Silver Medal winner 'Best in Class' IWSC 2005. Judges notes: "Golden colour, floral fruity nose with sweet oaky notes. Peppery on the palate. Satisfying, full flavoured finish."
GODET XO
  • Xrta Old - 30 year old blend of Grande and Petite Champagne
  • A fuller Cognac yet retaining a delicate style. Floral aromas and dried fruits are again evident on the nose with peach and stone cherry notes on the palate and finish. It has a subtle balance of wood, fruit and spirit with a long persistance as a result of the older mature Cognacs in the blend. Superb.
  • Presented in a stylish 'ships decanter'.
  • Multi Gold Medal winner - Brussels 1997, 2000, 2002; London 2000; Paris 1994. Silver Medal at London 1995 & 1997.
