RHUM

Producer: SANTA TERESA - Aragua, Venezuela    producer link

Hacienda Santa Teresa founded in 1796 is one of the oldest and most important distilleries in Venezuela. Family owned, it specialises in the light amber rums typical of the countrys style.

Sugar cane used for the distillation is harvested on the estate, which also grows oranges. In addition the coffee for Araku is roasted there. Ageing takes place in 100,000 barrels and 540 casks in what is now one of the nose technically advanced distilleries in South America.

The Santa Teresa range was first introduced to the British market in 2005.

GRAN RESERVA
  • Popular light golden rum with a smooth fruity character in a distinctive bottle.
  • Good colour and depth of flavor results from the incorporation of 5 year old rums into the blend - aged in barrels and casks.
  • Versitle style of rum - works well as a cocktail base and in classic recipes.
  • Silver Medal IWSC 2005.
1796 RON ANTIGUO DE SOLERA
  • Acclaimed as one of the finest premium rums and the only one to use a blend of heavy and light spirit. First released in 1996 to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the founding of the Hacienda, the first rum co-incidently being produced in its 100th - 1896.
  • Uniquely produced using a solera system - allowing for casks of rum of up to 35 years old to be part of the blend - the average age being 15 years. The lightness and maturity is readily appreciated on tasting.
  • A delicate and complex nose and palate - best savoured as you would a fine Cognac.
  • Silver Medal IWSC 2005.
RHUM ORANGE
  • A liqueur (40%abv) made by infusing the zesty peel of sweet oranges in young oak aged rum.
  • A very luscious and luxurious drink where the fragrant aroma of orange is to the fore.
  • Light and very smooth - drink on the rocks or as alternative to Gran Marnier or Cointreau.
  • Silver Medal IWSC 2005.
ARAKU
  • A coffee liqueur (28%abv) where 2 year old rums are blended with Caracas Blue Arabic coffee concentrate. Tropical spices and a little cane sugar are added to the final product.
  • A dark mahogany colour; very aromatic with rich coffee aromas dominating the nose and a sweetness that is not cloying. Warm, rounded and velvety finish.
  • Bronze Medal IWSC 2005.
