Bar 44 and Bodegas Baron Plan Week-long Sherry Bonanza

It’s a great honour to be supporting the gang at Bar 44 Tapas y Copas as they look to help people discover and celebrate all things Sherry this International Sherry Week.

Running from the 4th – 10th November, the award-winning restaurant group has announced its packed itinerary and promotions including:

Manzanilla Monday, 4th November – the perfect way to discover the driest side of sherry, enjoy a glass of Manzanilla alongside a free seasonal dish for just £6 in all of the Bar 44 sites during International Sherry Week.

Tuesday Baron Masterclass – 5th November – An intimate tasting with Bodegas Baron, one of the oldest Sherry producers which fuses heritage with a modern approach.  Tickets cost £5 and include 3 free drinks plus nibbles.


Wednesday Sherry Flights, 6th November – fly the length and breadth of the Sherry category, sampling from sweet to dry and all that’s in between alongside the finest delicacies. These will then run all week.

Thursday Thirsty – Sherry beer tasting, 7th November – A sherry cask beer and cheese tasting taking place at the Bar 44 Bristol site, showcasing a collaboration between the Alhambra Brewery and leading sherry producer Bodegas Baron.  Three incredible different sherry cask beers will be on hand to try and pair with the finest Spanish cheeses. These beers are a one-off production and are the only stock in the UK.

Fino Fryday, 8th November – a celebration of the tastiest morsels from the sea, fried and paired with Fino across all the sites.  #friedthingsandfino #finofriday

Saturday Sherry Fiesta, 9th November – An all-day sherry fiesta in Bar 44 Bristol including an internationally-renowned flamenco artist, live music, competitions and a sherry pouring challenge for the whole family from the barrel.

Sunday Sherry School – 10th November – taking place at the original Bar 44 Cowbridge site, this is a great event for those new to sherry. One of the Bar 44 in-house experts will be running a discovery tasting where you can start you sherry education.

About International Sherry Week

For the 6th year, International Sherry Week, organised under the auspices of El Consejo Regulador Jerez-Xeres-Sherry, will spread the word about sherry wines to aficionados in a multitude of events in more than 30 countries throughout the week of November 4th – 10th, 2019.

Thousands of restaurants, bars, wine stores and bodegas across the world will hold sherry tastings and offer pairing menus, as well as other sherry-themed events, to show how superbly this wine pairs with a wide variety of dishes, from cheese and cured meats, to fish, seafood, stews, and desserts.

Organisers have reported increases of as much 500% in sherry wine sales during International Sherry Week, along with sustained growth as a result of exposure.
