Brewing with monastic heritage in Belgium
Tongerlo Abbey beers are inspired by centuries of monastic brewing tradition. Originally brewed within the Norbertine Abbey of Tongerlo, these classic Belgian beers are now crafted under licence by Brouwerij Haacht near Brussels — preserving the rich, authentic character of the originals.
Brewed in accordance with the abbey’s values and traditions, Tongerlo beers combine depth, balance, and complexity. Whether poured in a chalice glass or shared at the table, they represent the refined side of Belgian brewing — contemplative, expressive, and full of soul.

“Beer as it has been for generations”
Tongerlo’s recipes are built around time-honoured brewing methods: multiple malts, traditional Belgian yeasts, long fermentation, and bottle conditioning. Each beer develops a unique profile — from fruity and spicy blonde ales to rich, warming brunes — with naturally evolving flavours and fine carbonation.
Respect for the original monastic approach is central. The beers are brewed slowly and carefully, allowing the yeast and ingredients to reveal their character. The result is a range of Belgian abbey ales that are faithful to their roots and built to last.
