Fantastic to see our Krombacher Dark getting the credit it surely deserves after it was voted best Dark Lager in the recent tasting by leading UK drinks magazine Imbibe.
Imbibe teamed up with the British Guild of Beer Writers and arranged for a distinguished tasting panel including the magazine’s Jacopo Mazzeo, Dipak Nayar from London Fields Brewery, beer sommelier Annabel Smith and Natalya Watson, who runs the Beer with Nat podcast, to taste and review a diverse range of dark beers of up to 5.5% abv in strength.
Krombacher Dark scored 86 points overall making it the best Dark Lager tasted and the second best dark beer tasted overall. The comments it received from the panel are below:
‘There’s an amazing complexity here with toffee, fruitcake, citrus zest, cola and candied fruit. Full palate, creamy, with plenty of chocolate,’ Jacopo Mazzeo, Imbibe.
‘Beautifully fruity; bread-crust and toasty aromas. On the palate, it’s well balanced, showing good carbonation, smoothness and cleanliness of flavours. Flavourful, yet easy drinking. Very well made,’ Natalya Watson, Beer with Nat.
