Okanagan 1516 Lager ~ 35.5cl Can

A Bavarian style Lager craft-brewed to celebrate the landmark 1516 Purity Law – to which the brewery rigorously adheres. The decree states that only four ingredients can be used when making beer: barley, hops, yeast and water.

This beer is brewed from two-row, premium Canadian and Bavarian barley, Hallertau and Saaz hops, Bavarian yeast and pure spring water – the finest, natural ingredients that are truly worthy of a lager that bears the name “1516”.

About the Brand

Okanagan Spring

One of the early microbreweries in British Columbia, Okanagan Spring was opened in 1985 by German immigrants Jakob Tobler and Buko Von Krosigk – inspired by the natural surroundings — and a total lack of good, local beer.

Okanagan Spring, based in Vernon, has dominated the regional microbrewery scene since the mid-90’s. The product line was originally oriented toward lagers, but the company soon found out that there was a much more enthusiastic market for ‘craft’ beer.

The brewers have 100+ years combined experience, and are stringent about ingredients. Only the best will do: premium two-row Canadian barley, quality hops, their own signature yeast strain and 100% pure Okanagan spring water.

In 1996, the company was purchased by Sleeman.
