Miopasso Primitivo

A very approachable Primitivo intense aromas and great personality. Sourced from selected vineyards in Puglia’s Salento Peninsula in the Leverano area which have a perfect micro-climate for grape growing, with the harsh sun being tempered by the cooling breezes from the sea surrounding the region on three sides.

The grapes are transported in small containers so that they are not crushed by their own weight, and are very softly destemmed in order to keep the skins intact. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature between 22-24C, with a pumping over of the must in order to achieve the best extraction of colour, soft tannins and aromas from the skins.

The Wine People is run by Stefano Girelli, whose family has been at the heart of Italian winemaking for three generations. The portfolio stretches the length of Italy, from the Veneto, to Tuscany, to Puglia and Sicily, and the focus is on organic viniculture.

Robust, and at the same time smooth and silky. Rich in fruit, with a certain “savoury” feel, alongside an abundance of ripe, dark berry flavours.

It is the perfect accompaniment to rich, meaty pasta dishes.

The Wine People

With the benefit of a completely fresh start – though having worked together for many years at leading Italian producer Casa Girelli – Stefano Girelli (Italian), Philippe Marx (French) and Peter Kosten (Dutch) got together in 2009 to create a new kind of wine company.

They have combined their skill and experience to bring affordable good value wines from across Italy, with the help of renowned Italian winemaker Stefano Chioccioli who makes all the wines.
