Barolo is “the king of wines and the wine of kings”. A full-bodied, dry taste that’s rich, yet smooth and well-balanced and bulging with fruit and spiciness.

Pier Luigi Borgna of Tenimenti Ca’ Bianca crafts world-class, modern-styled wines from a natural amphitheatre of 96 contiguous acres of hillside vineyards.

This Barolo from Ca’ Bianca uses Nebbiolo grapes sourced from low-yielding vines planted at high density. The vineyards are situated at 320m in a south-west aspect with primary soils of marl limestone with veins of sand.

The harvest takes place exclusively by hand and grapes are transported in boxes. Once in the cellar they are first crushed and de-stemmed before being transferred to vertical fermenters at a controlled temperature. Then a post-fermentation skin maceration takes place for about 20 days, after which the grape juice is extracted by gentle pressing.

This first vinification is in stainless steel for about 2 months and then continues in a combination of large Slovenian oak casks and new and used French barrels for a period of 24 months; after which the various batches are blended and bottled.
