Cotes du Rhone 'Montjau' | Rhone, France

£14.70

An organic certified Cotes du Rhone made from a blend of Carignan, Mourvedre, Grenache and Syrah.

The vineyards located on the Mount Montjau (Jupiter hill), the upland of Bourg Saint Andeol village. The soils are comprised of large pebbles that were rolled and rounded on the old Rhône river bed. These pebbles, that can weigh up to 30 kg, are very beneficial to the grapes as they provide excellent conditions for ripening. They store up the heat from the sun during the day and release it slowly through the mild summer nights.

The cuvée is exclusively crafted with a selection of grapes from old vines. They are harvested at a late ripening stage, and a long 18 day maceration makes it a quite concentrated and rich, yet balanced wine.
