Nurah Pinot Nero / Nero d'Avola | Sicily, Italy
Nuhar – “flower” in Arabic – is a blend of two classic varietals: Pinot Nero (Noir) the Burgundian stalwart responds to the warmth of Sicily with more sweetness and depth; and the more local Nero d’Avola provides impressive tannins and body.
The organically tended vineyards are located in the Camporeale area ofPalermo, Sicily on mountain slopes 550m above sea level on clay and sandy soils.
Harvested at optimum ripeness – August for the Pinot Nero, September forNero d’Avola – the grapes are vinified in small stainless steel tanks. Prolonged maceration at 24-28C ensures maximum extraction. The resulting wines are aged separately – Pinot Nero in French oak barriques, Nero d’Avola in steel before blending and bottle ageing.
