Prosecco Valdobbiadene 'Gemin' DOCG | Veneto, Italy
The most celebrated of Proseccos come from the hillside vineyards of Conegliano Valdobbiadene, the original production area for Prosecco. Here the hills are very, very steep.
Gemin’s vineyards here are farmed in line with organic practices. The grapes are soft pressed at a controlled temperature and with selected yeasts in an autoclave for at least 30 days with Charmat or Martinotti method. Extra Dry, it has 16g/l of sugar.
Awards:
Silver medal – Mundus Vini 2020
Prosecco Valdobbiadene DOCG can only be made in the Treviso province of Veneto on the hills between the towns of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene. Lying halfway between the Dolomites and the Adriatic Sea, the slopes have a unique microclimate – full sun ripens the grapes and high altitude and breeze ensure freshness even in the hottest summers. The steepness of the hills also means that everything—from pruning to picking—is principally done by hand.
Some winemakers are reviving the traditional way of making Prosecco – rather than disgorging, the wines are left on their lees which imparts more complexity and flavour. These are currently labelled Conegliano Valdobbiadene DOCG, without the added term “Superiore,” which is reserved for wines that have more pressure and bubbles.

Tasting notes: A superb, top quality Processo – plenty of impressive soft, smooth fruit. Bright straw colour with an intense and continuous fine-grained perlage (mousse). It is gentle and fresh with a characteristic fresh floral aroma and a harmonious, round taste.
Pairing suggestions: Good as an aperitif. Excellent with starters and light main courses of risotto and vegetables.
