Senza Rete Vermentino Orange | Tuscany, Italy

£14.70

‘Senza Rete’ is the Italian for ‘without a safety net’.

The values Senza Rete embodies are more about ‘withouts’ than ‘withs’. Its name has a classic circus legacy, chosen because like the best acrobats nature always finds its balance without the need for any ‘safety net’.

The venture is a homage to traditional Tuscan wines; a project by winemaker and consultant Maurizio Castelli, backed by Master of Wine Gabriele Gorelli.

This orange wine is made from 100% Vermintino grapes coming from hand harvested organic dry-farmed vineyards on the Tuscan coast, near to Alberese. They are mainly low-yielding parcels, from fine sandy soils.

Vinification is by skin contact fermentation in stainless-steel vats with 3 months on fine lees. Indigenous wild yeasts are used, no temperature control, no enzymes or other additions. It is naturally fermented to dryness (residual sugars <1 g/l); bottled unfiltered, unfined with no added SO2.

A limited production of 4000 bottles
