Veiga da Princesa Albariño | Rias Baixas, Spain
An authentic ‘farm’ Albariño. The vineyards were planted in 2002 after two years of uniting, plot by plot, more than 200 small farms and 70 different owners; a clear reflection of the Galician “smallholding” economy.
The chosen cultivation on a trellis system makes for for more airy, sun-kissed and less acidic grapes than those obtained with other methods such as trained vines. Additionally, the granite soils of the vineyard helps avoid many the pesticide treatments applied in other sub-areas of the region.
The naturally low acidity of the must allows the winery to eliminate malolactic fermentation, resulting in a wine of delicate varietal aromas and fresh flavours characteristic of the grape.
