Argentina

‘Beer’ as drink only became known in Argentina due to the arrival of the German and British immigrants during the 18th Century and the knowledge they brought with them.

In the middle of that century the first breweries founded by immigrants appeared, with the main components of malt and hops being shipped over from Europe. However due to the general poor quality of the ground water they would use rain water, which was jealously kept in barrels.

Over time malt and hop were grown with great success on Argentine soil and today Argentina is a large exporter of excellent quality hops.
