Trus Geodesico

“Definitely the pick of the current Trus range…” Tim Atkin MW

Complex, fine and elegant, it reflects the aromatic potential of the vineyards located at high altitude in the Ribera del Duero. It is powerful and delicate at the same time thanks to the freshness and slow maturation of the grapes in these high-altitude vineyards.

These vineyards are in various geodesic points of the Ribera del Duero (all of them villages in the province of Burgos – La Aguilera, Baños de Valdearados, Peñaranda, Moradillo de Roa). Located in the highest areas of each region, from 880 to 950m they form a catalogue of soils with different compositions; ranging from the calcareous soils of Baños to the gravelly soils of Moradillo or the pale white sands of Peñaranda and the silts and sands of La Aguilera.

Made from 100% Tinto Fino (aka Tempranillo) the grapes are harvested by hand in boxes with subsequent selection table. During fermentation at between 24 and 26 ºC there is a single daily manual bazuqueo (‘punching down’ or ‘pigéage’).Malolactic fermentation is carried out in 500ltr barrels and concrete tanks. Ageing is for 12 months in 225ltr and 500ltr American & French oak barrels and refining in a concrete tank. There is a natural stabilisation before bottling without aggressive filtration.

‘Trus’ stands for Tierra, Roble, Uve and Sol – Earth, Oak, Grape and Sun.

It is an acronym used to symbolise the coming together of these four natural elements to create perfect wines.

EARTH. A rich variety of minerals in the ground contribute to the personality of the grapes.

OAK barrels hand crafted in the best tradition and used to perfectly compliment the wine as it gentle ages in the cellars.

GRAPES hand selected from the finest local varietals, best adapted to the local conditions of Pesquera in the Ribera del Duero.

SUN “the element that leads.” Plenty of sun throughout the year brings top quality grapes, perfectly ripe for the vintage each September.

About the Producer

Bodegas Trus

Bodegas Trus was born in 1999 with the aspiration and idea of producing wines of great quality and personality that are a true reflection of “pais y pericia” – ‘country and expertise’.

Bodegas Trus is located in the cradle of the Ribera del Duero. The quality of its wines is intimately related to the provenance of the grapes. Their vineyards are in the triangle of Pesquera, a privileged area due to its ideal micro climate and height. Trus benefits from the orientation of their vineyards, mainly north west, within the valley up to Pinel de Abajo at an altitude of 800 metres.
