Italy - Sicily

Much of Sicily lies at a more southerly latitude than Tunisia, and it is the hottest, driest region of Italy.

Sicily is Italy’s up and coming wine region producing interesting whites and sturdy reds often from grape varietals grown on the island and no-where else. The wine styles of are varied and more experimental wines are being made outside of the DOC regulations.

Whilst, along with Puglia, Sicily remains one of the ‘bulk wine’ growers and producers of Italy, since the 1980s it has emerged, for those who seek the wines out, of the most exciting regions in Europe, blessed with a combination of abundant sunshine, varied terroirs, good indigenous grapes and plenty of investment in technology,
